Landscape Pebbles and River Rock by Color

White, ivory, or light gray rock creates the strongest visual contrast against red brick. Black or charcoal rock is a deliberate modern-contrast alternative.

Black, charcoal, or dark earth-tone rock creates the most contrast against a white exterior. White or ivory rock will blend in rather than stand out.

Earth-tone rock (tan, brown, rust) blends with brown and tan exteriors. For contrast instead, use white or light gray rock.

Dark earth-tone or black rock creates contrast against gray siding. White or ivory rock creates a lighter, more neutral pairing.

Start with the exterior color of the house: pick a contrasting color (light rock on a dark house, dark rock on a light house) for a defined look, or a matching earth tone for a blended look. Mixed/earth-tone blends work as a neutral default when there's no strong preference.
